Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Maria Jackson
As we start the 2020-2021 school year, I will be embarking on my 23rd year in Killeen ISD. I have served as a Teacher, a Coach and an AVID Coordinator over the years. I believe that every child has a right to learn and to grow as individuals. I began my teaching career at Nolan Middle School and it was such a great place to start. I soon moved to Liberty Hill Middle School where I would spend the next 14 years teaching and coaching basketball and track. I completed my Masters of Education in Leadership and Administration from TUI University in 2008 and my Masters of Education in School Counseling in 2011 from the University of West Alabama. In 2013, I became a school counselor at Manor Middle School. It was the culmination of a dream realized.
As a School Counselor, I am here as an advocate for our students and to assist our students in learning how to make better choices, developing effective study skills and habits, increasing their academic achievement, promoting positive peer relationships as well as helping them become productive members of our global society. I believe that a comprehensive school counseling and guidance program is critical in the daily functions of a school. One main goal of a comprehensive school counseling and guidance program is to promote and increase student achievement. It is my mission, as a School Counselor, to work as a partner with parents, students and staff members to achieve this goal.
