Ms. Denise Quinones

Education

I grew up in the small coastal town of Arecibo, Puerto Rico. I graduated from high school in a private school, Colegio San Felipe in Arecibo. I started my bachelors degree at the University of Puerto Rico at Arecibo and finished at the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico. I graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in management. After a few years and a career change, I earned a Master of Arts in Education/Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix.

Experience

Since I was a little girl, I played at being a teacher. After working in the business administration field for ten years, managing the accounting department in a hospital and starting a small business, I re-explored my passion for education. I started as a Bilingual Instructional Assistant at Pershing Park in 2004. My students inspired me to become a certified teacher in 2006. Since then, I have worked as a Bilingual Teacher at Peebles Elementary. At this moment, after sixteen years in education, I am looking forward to combining both of my professional experiences in the role of Campus Facilitator by providing our Trimmier Elementary community all of the help it needs with special programs.

Personal

I am the third of four children. My father was a mechanical engineer. My mother graduated from college the same day I did, which goes to show that it is never too late to further your education! I have three young adult sons who are my lifes purpose. My oldest son just recently separated from the U.S. Army to begin his first year of law school at the University of Connecticut School of Law. My two other sons are twins, and both are starting their college careers close to home.

Philosophy

"Success is its own reward, but failureis a great teacher too, and not to be feared". - Sonia Sotomayor
