Public schools in the Killeen Independent School District provide a variety of services for the special education of children age 3 – 22 years who have a disability. Children with identified physical, mental, perceptual, speech, language, social and/or emotional disabilities may be eligible for services beginning at birth. The district will use information from a variety of sources to determine eligibility according to Texas Education Agency guidelines. If you are the parent of a child, or are aware of a child, who is suspected of having a disability, please contact the Killeen school nearest your home for information about screening and evaluation services at no cost. The principal and other school administrators can give you information about the referral process for special education evaluation services. You can also call the Special Education office at (254)336-0366.
