Clear Creek Elementary has two counselors who provide school-based/educational counseling. The focus of CCES counselors is to help students with concerns that may impact learning and academic success. The counselors work with students, parents, and teachers. Many students refer themselves; however, teachers and parents may refer a child. Students may be seen individually or in small groups.
The following areas are examples of the ways in which the counselors can work with your child:
- Character building
- Working through feelings/self-control; self-concept/self-esteem
- Providing study skills
- Helping students understand the meaning of friendship and then helping them discover how to make and keep a friend
- Home concerns such as deployment, separation, divorce, grief/loss, alcoholism, etc.
School counselors are not licensed therapists. Students needing intense therapy for concerns outside of academics need to address those concerns with their physician or personal therapist.
