State Assessments
-
Students in 3rd-5th grade are required to participate in the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR).
Students in Kindergarten through 5th grade, qualifying for support through the English Language Learners program will participate in Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) until they earn exit status by passing TELPAS and STAAR exams.
State law requires school districts to annually assess the physical fitness of students enrolled in grade three or higher and to provide the results of individual student performance on the administered physical fitness assessments to the Texas Education Agency (TEA). The Physical Fitness Assessment Initiative (PFAI) is a program designed to collect and analyze the required student physical fitness data. Each year, 3rd-5th grade students participate in Fitnessgram.
