In accordance with Texas law, “A student in any grade level from kindergarten through grade 12 shall not be given credit or a final grade for a class unless the student is in attendance 90 percent of the days the class is offered. Additionally, students must earn promotion by averaging a 70% when combining: English Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies; as well as by earning 70% or higher in Reading and Mathematics.”
Face to Face learners must be physically present 90% of the time and all absences must be excused/cleared with a parent or doctor’s note. Additionally, all virtual learners must log in to each course, each day, for at least 90% of the time and all absences must be excused/cleared with a parent or doctor’s note as well in order to be considered for promotion.
We remain concerned about our virtual students who are not earning passing grades, or who are logging in for attendance purposes, but not completing or submitting assignments. All elementary students will receive grades for the work completed in each course and parents will receive progress reports and report cards based on the District reporting calendar. Report cards will go home during the week of October 19 that will reflect your child’s progress, so please contact your child’s teacher as soon as possible to discuss academic concerns or any missing assignments.
Attendance and grades are very important to the success of our students, whether face to face or virtual. Students who do not comply with the attendance requirements or satisfactorily complete their assigned coursework, risk retention for the course or the school year. If you have any questions regarding school attendance or the progress of your child, please reach out to our campus.
