Killeen ISD will continue to serve free breakfast and lunch to all students across the district for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. The USDA announced additional funding allowing the program to extend beyond December 18th as originally announced. The new waivers pave way for children, ages 0-18, to receive free meals until May 27, 2021 at all KISD campuses. Meals will be available on traditional school days, not including holidays or weekends.
Early literacy experiences delivered by highly-qualified educators in KISD Prek and Kindergarten classrooms throughout the district play important roles in supporting language development. Enjoyable, real-life learning experiences whether through Math Talks or science exploratory lessons combined with enriching literacy activities are experiences that wire the brain and develop foundational language, reading and emergent writing skills.
This law enforcement officer is so committed that he requires a partner to remind him to eat, drink and sleep. That’s the way Killeen ISD police officer Quirino Villegas described his partner Sauron, the school district police department’s canine officer. The 3-year-old male German Shepherd had no trouble keeping the attention of audience members ranging from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade at Maude Moore Wood Elementary School.
