Ms. Claudia Mendoza
I grew up in a beautiful border town called Eagle Pass, Texas. My first language was Spanish and I learned English at school. I attended Graves Elementary, Eagle Pass Middle School, and graduated from Eagle Pass High School. I then pursued my dream to become a bilingual teacher. I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Bilingual Education from the University of Texas at San Antonio. I then completed my Master of Arts degree in Bicultural-Bilingual Studies from the University of Texas at San Antonio. I decided to further my education in the area of educational leadership at Lamar University, earning my Principal Certification.
I have over 20 years of experience as an educator in Texas. My educational career started in 1996 as a Kinder Bilingual Teacher at San Antonio ISD. In 2002 I worked at Northside ISD as a Language Support Teacher. In 2008 we got stationed at Ft Bliss, Texas. While living in El Paso I worked for Ysleta ISD as a School-wide Coordinator at a pre-Kinder Center. In 2012 the Army brought us to Washington, PA, where I had the opportunity to work at Washington and Jefferson College at Washington, PA. as an adjunct Spanish Professor. In 2014 my family and I came to the Great Place where I joined the Killeen ISD family. I served as an ESL teacher at Pershing Park Elementary. I then had the opportunity to work as a Campus Instructional Specialist at Fowler Elementary. I am proud to say I am currently working as an Assistant Principal at Trimmier Elementary.
I have been married to my best friend for fifteen years. We have two boys who attend Liberty Hill Middle School. They play for the LMHS orchestra. One plays the violin, the other plays the viola. We also have a Yorkie named Oscar who has taveled with us all over the United States. We are proud to be a military family, and we absolutely love the opportunities the military has given us.
