Ms. Mary Stonebrook
I attended the University of Pittsburgh for two years before transferring to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor where I earned my bachelor’s degree. Several years later, I decided to further my education and enrolled in the School of Library Science at Texas Woman’s University and earned my master’s degree in Library Science.
I began my career as an educational aide while I was working on my teaching certificate. I taught for over twenty years in Copperas Cove ISD. I have classroom experience teaching kindergarten through 5th grade including five years as a Gifted/Talented teacher. I am starting my third year as a librarian in 2017-2018.
My three children keep me busy when I am not working. I have 23 year old twins, Dakota (who is a state trooper) and Mara (who is in grad school at Texas State). My 11 year old, Patrick, will be starting middle school this year. In my spare time, I enjoy reading and travelling.
Developing a child’s love of learning begins with encouraging their curiosity. It is through wondering that we seek information, using it as a building block for creativity and critical thinking.
