Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Oquendo

It has been said that, “A Teacher takes a hand, opens a mind & touches a heart!”  As a teacher, this is my ultimate goal.  My name is Myrna Oquendo.  I was born in Puerto Rico where I completed my bachelor degree at the University of Puerto Rico.  I married my high school sweet heart; he later joined the US Armed Forces.  Because of this, we have had the opportunity to live in several states, overseas, and move to a new home about every three years.  My husband retired from the US Army in 2002, and we chose to remain in Killeen with my son, my daughter, her husband and three beautiful grandchildren.  I have taught kindergarten, first grade and second grade bilingual students in Killeen Independent School District for 17 years.  I have enjoyed working with my bilingual students; I am blessed that I have the opportunity to work with them on a daily basis; I enjoy learning about different ways to teach and how to tap into their minds.  I am super excited about this coming school year and look forward to working with a wonderful group of students!
