This year marks the beginning of my 29th year working with children in public education.  After graduating from Texas Tech University, I headed to Big Spring, Texas to teach.  My family and I moved to Killeen in 1996 where I taught at both Reeces Creek Elementary and Trimmier Elementary.  In 2004, I was fortunate to be given an opportunity to teach in Fairbanks, Alaska.  After returning to Texas, I taught at Brookhaven Elementary for 7 years before returning to Reeces Creek for two years.  I graduated from Lamar University with a Master of Education in School Counseling in 2013 and joined Dr. Joseph A. Fowler Elementary as a school counselor in 2014 when the school opened.  I have quite a connection to KISD since I attended KG -12 here before moving on to college.  My husband and I married 26 years ago and have a wonderful 24-year old son, Tyler.

This year I am beginning my 31st year in education. I graduated from Baylor University in 1983 with a degree in Social Work. I decided to go back to school in 1988 and obtain my M.Ed. degree in Early Childhood Education/Elementary Education. In August of 1990, I began my career in teaching. I taught kindergarten, first grade, and second grade over a six year period of time. During that time, I went back to school at Texas Woman’s University and achieved my School Counseling Certification. I experienced great joy for the next eleven years working as an Elementary School Counselor. While working as a counselor, I went back to Texas Woman’s University and obtained my School Principal certification. I was employed as an Assistant Principal for six years at a 5th and 6th grade campus. I continued on to accept an Elementary Principal position where I stayed for two years. Upon moving to Temple, Texas to get closer to family, I had the opportunity to go back to the job I loved the most, being an Elementary School Counselor! This is my sixth year at Fowler Elementary and my seventeenth year as an Elementary School Counselor!

I have been married for 12 years to Fred. I have a son, Kevin, daughter in love, Noonay, and a daughter, Meghan.
