• About Clifton Park

As school opened in the fall of 1964, some Killeen students were without a campus to call their own. A new 30,000 square-foot, $299,000 school was in the final stages of completion, but not yet ready for use. These students were temporarily farmed out to other campuses, most at nearby Fowler Elementary School, while others were bussed to schools as far away as the town of Harker Heights.

Then, on a rainy Friday before Halloween, the "orphan" students loaded their textbooks in their 19 teachers' cars, picked up their personal supplies, and walked half a mile down Trimmier Road to their new school home an unnamed school that was referred to as Southside Elementary! Since the school was located in the Clifton Park area of Killeen, it was eventually named Clifton Park Elementary.

As Killeen continued to grow so did Clifton Park, with additions and renovations being completed in 1972, 1981, 1984, 1991 and 2000; with the bilingual program being added in 2001. Today, Clifton Park serves more than 500 Pre-Kindergarten through fifth grade students, with a staff of over eighty.
