Counselor

Here at Brookhaven Elementary School we are all part of ONE great team!

My name is Cheri Cox and this is my twelfth year as school counselor at Brookhaven. I look forward to building relationships with our new and returning students and continuing to assist our Brookhaven Broncos on their paths to success.

The Brookhaven Elementary counseling program is a comprehensive guidance program designed to help students with their overall academic experience and to assist with personal growth. Students will work with the school counselor through classroom guidance lessons, small-group sessions, and individually as needed.   The counseling program gives students the opportunity to further their personal development academically, socially, and emotionally.  The main goal of the counseling program is to assist students in learning the skills and attitudes necessary to be successful learners and productive citizens.

I am available to meet with parents to address needs or concerns. I can be reached Monday through Friday from 7:30am‐3:30pm at (254)336‐1440 or personally at school.

I am excited to begin my 11th year at Brookhaven Elementary School.  This will be my first year as a full time counselor.  Last year I worked with many of the students as a part time counselor/interventionist.  I have also taught 3rd and 4th grade and the Dyslexia class.

I have two children Jamie and Bret and a wonderful grandson that is 4 years old. The military brought us to Texas from Seattle.  I enjoy traveling, reading, and quilting.

I enjoy working with such wonderful students and staff at Brookhaven.  As a counselor, I get the opportunity to work with different classes as well as students in small group or students that have individual concerns.  I also get to work with the Student Council Organization as they work to serve the local community.

I look forward to another wonderful successful year with such amazing students.
