    Greetings Students and Parents

I am very excited to be part of the wonderful music team at East Ward Elementary School. We sing, we play, we dance, we move, we create, we think, we grow, we perform, we shine, we learn, we inspire, we have a blast, we achieve greatness!!! Music is found around the world. Different peoples, different languages, different traditions, different cultures...all with music as part of their lives.

Take a listen to these three sisters and their brother from Ireland.  The Corrs are a very successful Irish pop group that also performs traditional Irish tunes.  In this clip, the Corrs share a traditional Irish dance tune called "Toss the Feathers." Listen for the traditional Irish instruments, the tin whistle and bodhran (drum).

Not just in our Ipod, phone, or on YouTube.  You don’t have to buy an expensive instrument to perform music.  Everyday objects can be turned into musical instruments in a snap.  And of course, there is nothing more simple than using your' hands and your' voice to create music on the spot.  Check out these folks called STOMP.  This is a great group of percussionists (sometimes we mistakenly call them drummers) that use everyday objects to jam the day away.  Basketballs as musical instruments?????   You bet!!!
