Welcome active-duty military family! About 50% of the students at Skipcha are military dependents. This is so exciting for me. Military service runs deep in my immediate family, so I cherish the opportunity to serve the military community at Skipcha. Thank you for trusting us to care for and educate your precious military-connected children.
Please see our campus main page for general information about Skipcha Elementary. Like many others who move to the area, I’m sure you’re wondering how Skipcha specifically supports military families. In this section of our website, you will find a few of the ways our staff supports your family.
Skipcha aspires to understand the needs of military families. If there is a need you have that we are not yet meeting, please let me know. We strive to provide a rigorous learning environment with high expectations for all students.

Principal, Skipcha Elementary
This year, Killeen Independent School district, through a generous DODEA grant, purchased a STEM mobile classroom. This classroom visits schools with high populations of military students, providing fun, engaging, hands-on lessons for students. This year, students in grades 3-5 participate in the STEM bus lessons.
Operation Hero is a program held at Skipcha twice annually after school for a small group of students whose parents are usually deployed or need support because of deployment(s). The program is managed by the YMCA and students receive homework help, social and emotional support and peer conversations in a controlled, small-group environment. More information is available in our front office.
The campus has a military family life counselor on-site every day to help military children and their families be more successful at school. A licensed social worker is available for families who sign their children up to receive services. More information is available in our front office.
This website is available to military students throughout our school district.
